Jenna Smith
Dear Reader,

My journey as an educator has been shaped by diverse linguistic and cultural experiences. Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, I spent 12 years in a French Immersion school, which sparked my passion for language acquisition and cross-cultural understanding.

That passion deepened when I volunteered for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montreal, immersing myself in Spanish-speaking communities. These formative experiences in French and Spanish have profoundly influenced my approach to language teaching.

With a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in TESOL from BYU–Idaho, I am committed to creating engaging, inclusive learning environments. Now pursuing an MA in TESOL at Brigham Young University, I continue to refine my teaching practice and expand my expertise.

I find immense joy in guiding students on their language-learning journey, fostering meaningful connections, and celebrating cultural diversity. This portfolio reflects my commitment to continuous improvement, reflective practice, and the transformative power of education.

Thank you for exploring my teaching portfolio—I look forward to sharing my philosophy, experiences, and ongoing journey.

Sincerely,
Jenna Smith
